SWMAS Auction Rules
1. You do not have to be a club member to buy or sell. Everyone is welcome.
2. All items must be labeled with pre-approved seller ID (in CAPital letters), item number, seller name, contact information, description and species name, and quantity and sex in bag. Fillable PDF Auction Registration forms that generate labels are available on
this website
.
3. Please label your items clearly. Any items where the seller cannot be identified will be considered a donation to SWMAS.
4. Pair means one of each sex. Mated pair means the pair has spawned together. Trio means one male and two females.
5. Proper fish bags must be used. Double bagging is strongly recommended. Bags should contain 2/3 air and 1/3 water. Any bags that are not acceptable will be re-bagged, and the seller's proceeds reduced by $1.00 for each item requiring re-bagging.
6. There is a limit of five bags of any one color, type or variety per seller.
7. No minimum bids will be accepted.
8. The Auction Committee retains the right to reject any items not fit for sale. It is illegal to auction game fish.
9. To accommodate out-of-town travelers, a "Call-Up System" will be used. Buyers may pay a service fee of $2.00 to bring any item up for immediate auction. The $2.00 fee will not apply towards the bid and is not refundable. This fee will be collected up front, in cash, and does not guarantee that the person who paid the fee will win the bid on the item. As always, the highest bid will prevail. Sellers will not be allowed to bring their own items up for call-up bidding.
10. The selling price will be split 70/30 with the seller receiving 70% of the sale.
11. SWMAS will mail the checks within two weeks. Members who wish to receive their checks prior to the next meeting are requested to provide a SASE.
12. There is a 50-item limit per seller. SWMAS will be using the ten-table method, where the last digit of each item will determine the table and order in which the items will sell. (Table 1 will contain Item 1, 11, 21, 31, and 41. Table 2 will contain Items 2, 12, 22, 32, and 42, etc.) Table 1 will be sold first, followed by the remaining tables in random order.
13. Any items that do not sell become the property of SWMAS.
14. SWMAS and its representatives will not be held responsible for any items entered in the auction nor for any personal injury incurred during the auction.
15. The auctioneer has the final say on any items sold for auction.
16. Credit cards are not accepted. Buyers may run a tab and pay with a personal check only if they provide proper identification, e.g., driver's license. Checks should be written to SWMAS. Any buyer whose check is returned will be charged $20.00. Check fraud of any type will be criminally prosecuted.
